is a lively place every weekend.

  On May 16 Monica Woodard will be

playing her guitar and singing her

folksy blues originals.  And then on May 23  

T Grays welcome back the Lucky Strikes

jazz trio.  This is a Memorial Day

weekend show.  "We hope some, if not

all of you can make it to one of these

shows.  As always, we will have plenty

of beer/wine specials along with our

varied menu selections," says owner Tiger Posey.  Music starts at 6 and goes

On Friday night just outside of

you can be part of an old time music jam.

The jam is held each Friday and the

venue is mountain string music

including Bluegrass.  All ages and skill

levels are welcome as dancers are too.

And if you don't pick, just stop in and

listen. The jam has free admission

and donations are welcome for the

upkeep. The Phipps Store has been

mentioned or featured in The Old Time

Hearld, The High Country Magazine,

The Mountain Times, Carolina Country,

and The Jefferson Post. While visiting

The Ashe County Free Medical Clinic

is hosting a golf tournament May 15

at the Club at Jefferson Landing as a fundraiser for the clinic. Here is the
